We have been successful in locating leaks in buried pipelines even when covered with dirt and paving materials. Our highly accurate method of helium leak testing allows us to determine a leakage point to within a few feet keeping excavation to a minimum. This method is useful for any size or type of underground pipe and does not leave any residue or require complete removal of product prior to testing. The gas mixture created is a food grade gas -

Gas tracer leak detection will find leaks even if the surface is concrete or asphalt.

Pipeline leak testing with gas tracer is often the fastest and most economical way to locate leaks on buried pipelines. Even very large leaks or breaks in pipes will not always allow water to come to the surface. This water can be channelled long distances along the pipe and drain underground. Tracer Gas always comes to the surface where it is easily detected. We also utilize the Tracer Gas leak detection method to test petroleum tank bottoms. Whether trying to pinpoint a leak for repair or for certification of a new or retrofitted tank bottom our services will save you time and money.

The techniques used to leak test both underground pipelines and tank floor bottoms are very similar. Tracer Gas is injected either under the tank floor or into the pipeline and a small pressure differential is achieved. Our technician then scans the tank floor or the ground above the pipeline looking for helium escaping from leaks. We use only state-of-the-art portable mass spectrometer Tracer Gas leak detectors and are able to scan any length of pipe or size of tank floor. If you have tried ultrasonic or other less sensitive leak detection methods in the past you will be pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of Gas tracer leak testing.

3 feet underground. Our sensors will pick up the gas as it rises through the ground and will identify the concentrations
of gas. We will move closer to the high concentration areas of gas and locate the leak.

Central Heating

If you have a leak on your central heating system and the floors are tiled, laminated, marbled etc and you do not want to take up the whole floor searching for the hidden leak or leaks we can help. It is fair to say that the leak/leaks are normally on the ground floor, if it was on the first floor or above you would have wet patches on your ceiling at some point. We would isolate the first floor and above then inject tracer gas into the central heating pipes; we can then trace the leak location/locations by identifying where the tracer gas rises up and by the concentration levels.

Our gas tracer sensors in many cases will detect gas leaks as low as one part per million – this is the most sensitive tracer on the market. If the pipe is buried under ground and the surface is tarmac, blocked paved or even concrete our detectors will be able to locate the area of leakage by the level of parts per million of tracer gas mixed with natural air.
